Hulu has finally revealed the official release date of its upcoming limited series, Welcome to Chippendales.
The true crime epic, which stars
-Kumail Nanjiani and its India-born creator “Steve” Banerjee. The series is to arrive on Hulu on November 22. New episodes will stream weekly.
The series is set in Chicago in the 1970s, and Banerjee embarks on a mission. The mission is to create a new exotic male strip experience for women. In doing so, he assembles a team of misfits who become his dancers—and eventually help him build an empire.
What is it about?
The Chippendales story is about a man searching for wealth, power, and fame.
Born in Calcutta, Banerjee arrived in Los Angeles with $500 in his pocket and dreamed of being an American success story. He started by taking over a Mobil gas station in Playa del Rey that he saw as an opportunity to make money quickly. His business savvy led him to reinvest his profits into another business venture: The Hollywood Bar & Grill. He saw it as an opportunity to build something that would last.
Banerjee wanted to make his bar something special. So he changed the name from Hollywood Bar & Grill to Chippendales and completely overhauled the club aside from its once-a-week male-only show. With its cuff and collar shirtless male dancers, Chippendales saw a rose in popularity with controversy.
